Navy Seals are the elite Naval Special Operations unit of the US
Navy. Navy Seals refers to the US Navy’s SEA, AIR, LAND (SEAL) teams.
This Navy Seal is one of the most respected commando forces in the world and
very hard to beat in Maritime Special Operations and Anti/Counter Terror operations.
The nickname of the US Navy Seals is frogmen. This Navy
Seal is under the command of the US Navy Special Warfare Command, NAVSPECWARCOM.
This Special Operations Force is highly proficient in Basic Underwater Demolition
(BUD) and direct action missions. The Headquarters of this force is at Naval
Special Warfare Command, San Diego, California and United States of America.
The US Navy’s need for demolition of the naval mines and beach obstacles
led to the birth of this Navy Seal in 1987.Prospective Navy Seals have to overcome
the most demanding training course in the US Navy.
This assigns them to a SEAL or Swimmer Delivery Vehicle Team for 12 months of
on the job training. They receive training to operate in small units of one
or two men to strength of 16 men. However, the best squads are in groups of
eight or fewer. They train with the same vigor in both wartime and peacetime.
The qualifiers can then wear and display the Special Warfare Badge, the SEAL
Trident. This is one of the most recognizable insignias of the United
States Navy.
US Navy Seals are the obvious forces in choice as and when
the Commander-in-Chief needs a decisive and final solution to a foreign policy
problem, including counter-terrorism choices. Most of the Navy Seal missions
do not get to the media and are hence unreported and unknown. Vietnam War saw
the launching of many offensive operations by SEAL. The teams are very successful
and have a vast history of achievements and victories. They specialize in airborne
and direct action operations, raids and counter terrorism, infiltrating and
exfiltrating by sea, air or land, intelligence, personnel and special equipment
recovery and underwater demolition.
