How Much Do Navy SEALs Get Paid?
Navy SEALs, also known as Special Warfare Operators, are members of the United States Navy's primary special operations force. First, as a graduate of BUD/S class 89, if you're interested in going to Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL training (BUD/S) and becoming a SEAL just for the money, you need to plan another future. For me, and so many like me, we would have paid to go to BUD/S. If becoming a Naval Special Warfare operator is not your highest goal in this current span of life, then don't waste your time. Successfully graduating BUD/S requires an unequivocal 'ALL_IN" attitude and do-or-die commitment.
With that said, and if you're still interested, Navy SEAL salaries vary based on factors such as rank, time in service, and special pay. Here's a rough estimate breakdown of the typical salary ranges for Navy SEALs:
Enlisted SEALs
- E-3 (Seaman): $2,043.70 - $2,610.30 per month (approximately $24,500 - $31,300 per year)
- E-4 (Petty Officer Third Class): $2,261.60 - $3,294.50 per month (approximately $27,100 - $39,500 per year)
- E-5 (Petty Officer Second Class): $2,610.30 - $3,962.10 per month (approximately $31,300 - $47,500 per year)
- E-6 (Petty Officer First Class): $2,849.40 - $4,885.10 per month (approximately $34,200 - $58,600 per year)
Officer SEALs
- O-1 (Ensign): $3,287.10 - $4,136.40 per month (approximately $39,500 - $49,600 per year)

Special Pays
In addition to their base salary, Navy SEALs may receive special pays, including:
